Cricket has been played on Hartley’s picturesque ground for more than 65 years and during the past decade the section has gone from strength to strength. Two excellent squares facilitate Kent League cricket for the Saturday 1st and 2nd teams and Kent Feeder League cricket for the 3rd and 4th elevens. The demand for cricket is such that 5th and 6th teams are now run on Saturdays and who play their home games at two other local grounds.
The 1st XI has been particularly successful in recent years culminating in winning the Kent Premier League title at the first attempt in 2008. Since then the title was won again in 2011 and successfully retained in 2012, 2013,2015 and 2016. Our 2nd XI also gained promotion to the Kent Premier division of its competition last year. On Sundays the Club plays in the Aero Development League which is aimed specifically at developing players under the age of 21, whilst mid-week there are friendly fixtures played both home and away. Colts fixtures are also played during the week and youngsters of all ages are encouraged with regular coaching sessions by ECB qualified coaches which includes the use of our own outdoor net facilities.
As a Club we are always trying to upgrade our facilities and in the last two years we have been able to purchase new sight screens and roll-on covers for the main square.
New players are always welcome, as are anyone interested in umpiring or scoring for one of the teams. A warm welcome is extended to all.
